Quick Time Alternative is a codec for Microsoft Windows created by Codec Guide for playing .MOV files. These files can also be done by Quick time software created by Apple. To play .MOV files, QuickTime Alternative uses codec taken from QuickTime 7. The difference between Quick time and Apple is about the consumption of system resources. Because the Quick time Alternative does not have a few components that are not essential for playing .MOV files in general. It is much smaller in package consuming minimum resources from system. Also in this software there is no background processes running simultaneously along with the main process which makes it still more applicable for playing .MOV files with less system cost.
Even this software supports content that come along in web pages. Also one needs to remember that it do not have any direct show filters.
